So we decided to do something about it.
Formnigani means ‘what’s the plan?’ in Sheng, a slang form of Swahili. What began as a research project has evolved into a movement driven by Kenyan creatives, for Kenyans. The purpose is to get Kenyans thinking, talking, and making informed decisions about the future and the crucial role of family planning.
Kenyans have big dreams including families and careers. Everyone wants the best for our country and loved ones. We believe that whatever your dream is, you need a plan to get there. Have one child – or seven – it’s all about having a plan.
Despite the crucial role of family planning for the future and the right to family planning being guaranteed by our Constitution and Health Act, many Kenyans lack access to both family planning methods and information.
#formnigani? is a movement of Kenyans for family planning. It has been facilitated by M4ID, a social impact company with the mission to improve development and health outcomes of underserved communities, and supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
